Fired Star Wars star: You won't even notice the scandalous exit in The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian, the first Star Wars real series, loses one of its oldest stars. Last week, Lucasfilm fired Gina Carano after she again received negative attention with a post on social media. We won't see the actress in The Mandalorian season 3 or any other Star Wars project.

Of course, that raises a lot of questions about what happens to the star warrior she embodies, Cara Dune. On Twitter, some fans have been campaigning for a replacement with Lucy Lawless in the past few days. Another option is more likely: Lucasfilm will write the character from the series.

Not just from the series: the erasure of Gina Carano's legacy has already begun across all media. Hasbro is removing two announced Cara Dune action figures from the catalog. We should be prepared for the fact that the character will not be mentioned in the Star Wars universe for the next few years.

Can The Mandalorian survive without one of its founding members?

The simple answer to the question is yes.

The Mandalorian: Cara Dune has a lot of Star Wars potential

As is so often the case, however, the matter can be viewed from different angles.

All episodes of The Mandalorian in the video ranking:

To understand Cara Dune, we need to be clear about when The Mandalorian is on the Star Wars timeline. The first season begins around five years after the end of Return of the Jedi. The empire has been defeated and the New Republic that we know from the sequel trilogy is slowly forming.

Cara Dune is introduced as a survivor of Alderaan. This is the first planet to be destroyed by the Death Star in Star Wars. In other words: Cara Dune has a connection to one of the cruelest Star Wars events and is now experiencing a formative transition phase in the star war.

The potential that is hidden in the figure with regard to trauma processing and the reorganization of the galaxy has so far only been scratched. Series creator Jon Favreau has definitely laid the foundation to bridge the gap between 123SHOWS political conditions in the original and those of the sequel trilogy.

Gina Carano's sudden end to Star Wars will not be noticed

With Cara Dune, there is now no more exciting interface to operate in mythology between two Star Wars eras. As one of the Rangers of the New Republic who will keep law and order in the future, we will not see her. As tragic as it sounds, we will probably not even notice their disappearance in the Mando universe.

Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers and Gina Carano - this trio emerged as the core team from the 1st season of The Mandalorian. The latest episodes, however, have positioned Pascal's co-stars as casual marginal figures, if not completely excluded for long periods. They are not necessary for the story to proceed.

The Mandalorian rests alone on the shoulders of Din Djarin and his little green companion. Otherwise, the ensemble changes from episode to episode, which not only offers numerous entry points for new characters, but at least as many exit points for familiar faces - in this case: Cara Dune.

If Jon Favreau keeps the series' narrative rhythm, it would be easy to bury Cara Dune in a subordinate clause and focus on one of the many other strong characters who most recently appeared on The Mandalorian, starting with Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson ) to Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen).

The Mandalorian doesn't rely on Cara Dune

The best option for this is Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) and her squad. After the season 2 finale, The Mandalorian is at a point where the series has to rearrange itself. If, for example, the conflicts around Mandalore come to the fore, the loss of Cara Dune should no longer be felt.

Cara Dune is very fond of Gina Carano's personality and image that she became the former MMA fighter through action films like Haywire and Fast
